Inter-Unit Banner Design Competition

Rules:

Each COY can send in more than one entry
The name of the COY and school must be on the banner as well as the top left-hand corner of the back of the banner
Banners should be based on the World Thinking Day 2009 Theme "Stop the Spread of AIDS, Malaria and Other Diseases" and linking it with the GGS' triennium theme for 2009-2011 "Together We Can Change Our World"
Banners must be submitted by Friday, 23 January 2009, 5:00pm

Please, if you have any creative designs for the banner, sketch it out and bring it to the next Guides' meeting this friday. It would be best for everyone to come up with one. We'll vote for the best then. :)

Guy's..To be true is that tiz room is better after cleaning than the firstdae mie.kelly,mrs chia and miss wong came in last tyme is more ugly haha..we decided to clean it and it look lyke the picture below or i mean at the leth hand side..haha...But however..it sosososososo much better than the last tyme room right..haha..

okays, I have put up the Poll for the date of the full day Guide training, please check your schedules and vote. The training is from 2pm-9pm. Please bring along your Full uinform. You can wear the school PE T shirt to report if you want.
We will be learning Knots & Lashings so if you want, you can read up on it in the Guides Handbook or check the Guides website.
We will also be doing Drills. We will also be doing outdoor cooking on that day. please bring your own utensils, to save the environment, remember to bring your OWN utensils nort plastic ones.

To all Girl Guides, do not freak out when you see a poll in this blog. This poll is put up so as to get your opinion on which dates you want to go for your enrolment and promotion camp.

For the juniors, you may not know previously that there is a camp that you have to go for to get your enrolment and promotion badges but now you know! =) The senoirs went through it before! HAHA!

Hey guides!
I made this new skin. Worked quite alot on it.
Haha, I didn't have the photos of the guides so I went to the video that Ms Wong posted and pause. Then I kept printing the screen.
Okay, hope you guys don't find it too awful! (:

Anyway, here are some announcements:

#1: Remember to bring your consent forms for the visit to the Elder Care Home! Don't disappoint us, okay?

#2: On Friday, meet the Red Cross members at 1315 hours (which is 1:15 p.m.) at the drop-off point. Okay, I forgot the name of that place, but basically, it's the place where the cars drop off students?

#3: ALL seniors involved in the planning of the HYGG Camp, I've already done the whole proposal. Try to give me your individual proposals, okay? (Captain, should I send you the proposal?)

#4: All the best on Friday, the DOOM's day, when we get back our papers! :D

Before you start using Astronomicon, write down your thoughts on:

a) What you think the Earth would look if you look at it from the Moon. Do you think it will have different phrases? Why?

Ans: The Earth will look the same as it is when being viewed on the Moon. The Earth will experience phases when being viewed from on the Moon. The Earth revolves and rotetes thus, some parts of the earth do not redlect light, causing the phases.

Build a Sun-Earth-Moon system. Go to a position above the Earth and the above the Moon, and observe each view for a year ( 365 days). You can use the counter at the bottom of the screen.

b)how are the earth and the Moon lit? Why do you think they are lit this way?

Ans: They are both lit by reflecting sunlight from the sun. They are lit this way as they both do not create light on their own and since the sun is their nearest star, they both reflect light from it.

Observe the Earth from the Moon, the Satellite view of the Sun , and any other views of your choice.

c) how the phases in the Earth change?

The Earth will rotate thus one side of the Earth will be in darkness while the other will be lit.

d) How does the angle among Sun , earth and Moon change?

The angle of the Moon and Earth will change as they revolve and rotete around the Sun.

e) What do you think is causing the phases of the Earth? How does your observation from the evidence fit with your thought? If not, what did you find out from this exercise that you did not know before?

I think the phases of the Earth is caused by earth's constant rotating and revolving which changes the side of the Earth where it reflects the Suns light. My observation fits my thought except for that of how the Earth's constant revolution can affect its phases.

Answer: We won't be able to look the Earth from the moon because the Earth can only be seen from the near side of the Moon,and would always be invisible from the far side.If we can see the Earth from the Moon maybe the Earth will be very shine and look like a cresent Moon,maybe.i

aslo think that it will be different phases because it depends on the position of the Moon.

(b) How are the Earth and the moon lit? Why do you think they are lit in such ways?

Answer: The planetshine occurs when reflected sunlight from a planet illuminates the dark side of its Moon. The example of planetshine is Earthshine. Earthshine is that which we can see from the Earth when the Moon is thin Cresent where the Moon is news as viewed Earth,the Earth is nearly fully lit up. As night seen, the Moon and the Earth are both reflected to the sun which is possible for us to see the Moon from the Earth.

(c) How the phases of the Earth change?

Answer: The Moon keeps nearly the same faces turned towards the Earth all times.

(d) How does the angle among the Sun,Earth and Moon change?

Answer: The angle will only moves if the Sun,Earth and Moon revolve or ratates.

Answer: The lower eccentricity value is,the orbital paths will be circular, because ,if the Earth were the only planet orbiting our sun,the eccentricity of its orbit would not vary in time.

Answer: I think we will have the experience of the extreme temperature and weather in a year if the eccentricity was about 0.7.

Ans:
- we see different phases of the moon as the moon revolve around the Earth, an since the moon reflects light from the sun, sometimes the Earth's shadow will block some parts of the moon, thus we see phases.
- The Earth revolves and rotates and sometimes, the Sun's rays cannot reach the moon to be reflected, thus we see phases.

Ans: The moon and the Earth both reflects light from the Sun as they both do not produce or emit their own light.

b) As all things reflect light into our eyes to be able to be seen, the light from the Sun is being reflected onto the Earth and the Moon, making them seem that they are ‘giving out light’.
c) The phases change depending on which part of the Moon is facing the Sun.
d) As the Sun is the parent of the Earth and the Earth to the Moon, we can conclude that the Moon is orbiting around the child of the Sun.

In the past months & weeks, we have been having great fun with the teachers,In the June holidays, we have been participating in various activities and had sooo much fun.First, we went to the combine UG camp. That was great fun except that we didn't really do anything. From that, we learned that we must plan everything out carefully first before we do it. And that we won't really enjoy camps that are not well planned x).second, we had the girl guide camp. We pitched tents in school. (the grassy area between the upper sec block & the lower sec block). had alot of fun scaring each other with stories we made up ourselves. But the best part was, the outdoor cooking!! We cooked with solid fuel, and that was great fun. At the camp, we realised food cooked by ourselves was better then anything else in the world =).Thats all for now! I'll update the rest of the activities later! With the photos! =) We don't need to do the taps thingy here right? okays.. hahax. Girl Guides Rocks Forever!
